I would like to say welcome to all alumni, parents, current actives, potential members, and site visitors! This is the first installment of what will hopefully be a consistent update on the recent activities, events, and all things involving the members of the Zeta-Pi Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Week of February 8-February 14, 2010
On Friday night, twelve men from the TKE colony at Central Methodist University made the two hour trip to Culver-Stockton College. They brought two actives and ten associate members (pledges). Some of the associate members had been waiting more than two semesters to be initiated, since (as a colony) they do not own initiation materials. We put them through Secret Works and Initiation and finished around midnight. The new brothers were very excited and it was a proud day for all of the actives of both schools. The picture on the front page of the website is of the CMU men and a few officers of Zeta-Pi.
Sunday brought the Annual Telefund, not to mention Valentine's Day. We called alumni from 2 PM to 5 PM, updating contact information, sharing with alumni the great things going on at the house (highest male GPA for the calendar year of 2009, largest fraternity on campus, etc.), and asking for donations to the chapter. We have many areas toward which we need to spend money: ritual equipment, alumni programming, composite photos, and many other activities that we are looking forward to providing for brothers. We will be calling again Tuesday night- thank you for your generosity!
Week of February 15-February 21, 2010
Monday- Zeta-Pi started off the week right with a brotherhood event down at the local Canton barbecue joint, The Riverside Smokehouse. Over twenty brothers attended the all-you-can-eat burger buffet lunch for only about six dollars and it was such a success that we are going to hold a monthly brotherhood at the Smokehouse. We would love to have everyone who is able to attend join us at 11:30 for the first Monday of next month.
Tuesday- It was a busy night as the house had to split itself to cover multiple obligations. Follow-up calls for the Annual Telefund ran for three more hours. A GIANT THANK YOU TO ALL THE ALUMNI WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THE CHAPTER AND ARE CONSIDERING A DONATION! We enjoyed talking to everyone and it is a real encouragement to see that we are supported, so thank you again. Zeta-Pi also co-hosted a special speaker (also a Teke!) on Culver's campus to inform students of the dangers of drunk driving. Almost a quarter of the entire student body attended.
Wednesday- Our second weekly B-list comedy movie night was attended by about 25 brothers. The movie was about a fun-filled college bromance, and Brotherhood Chairs Jacob Fuller and Beau Becraft will be hosting Movie Night next Wednesday with the viewing of Airplane. Unfortunately, the TKE intramural kickball team lost a nail-biter.
Thursday- The play "Rhinoceros" opened in Culver's Black Box Theater, and three Tekes played major roles. Theater major Nick Johnson and theater minors Patrick Parsons and Josh Kollitz gave very dynamic performances in the absurdist play. The play ran through the weekend and many fraters went to support our acting men.
Sunday- Culver's Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council hosted an officer workshop after lunch. It was open to all chapters on Culver's campus and their members of the executive boards. TKE sent six officers to go to roundtables to discuss things such as recruitment, public relations, and academic programming with members of other houses. Special thanks to Greek Life Director Bob Dudolski and current TKE Hegemon and IFC President Lance Smith!
March-April 2010
After a short hiatus, I am glad to be back updating the website! We have been very busy the past two months, and there is so much to catch up on that I will highlight the main points. We came back from Spring Break in early March to jump into a couple of community service projects. A collective total of 26 hours were logged at the Canton firehouse helping them with their spring cleaning and rearranging. A few Saturdays ago we worked around 130-140 hours at the annual Canton 3-on-3 basketball tournament! Some pictures of this are up on our Facebook page, available for actives and alumni.
Everyone knows that spring means Greek Week, and I proudly report that TKE brought back the gold (we even won overall points over the sororities!) on the back of winning the events of Small Talent Lip-sync and Tug-of-War. Zeta-Pi also received the award for Highest House GPA for the 2009 year at the same awards ceremony.
Today is the first day of the 3 week schedule, the last 3 weeks of the semester. Grade reports came out, and once again TKE had a very strong showing. We posted a 3.247 average, well above the all-male Greek average as well as the all-Greek average. Hopefully everyone keeps up the good academics and we continue to dominate on the grade sheets. Good luck to all TKE nominees for the end of the year individual Greek awards!
